Title: The Breaking Point
Writer: Fabian Nicieza
Penciler: Mark Bagley
Synopsis:
After their defeat by Gideon, the Warriors follow up on information
given by him that links the Japanese Yakuza gangs and the Taylor
Foundation. As the New Warriors are infiltrating the home of the
Yakuza leader they are attacked by Ninjas. Mariko Yashida hears
out what the Warriors have to say. She says that she will help
the New Warriors in their quest for information regarding the Taylor
Foundation if they agree to eliminate the Yashida Clan's sworn enemy,
That Tatsu'o Clan. In Chinatown, Chord's visitor from last issue
is dining in a restaurant when she is visited by Tai. Tai's
presence alone causes the restaurant diners to flee. The woman,
Miyami, is revealed to have been Chord's wife who faked her death and
the death of their children (a son and a daughter) in order to rescue
them from becoming Tai's pawns. Miyami ran away to San Francisco
but left her children behind in Chinatown. Furious, Tai seems to
suddenly realize who the children are. With that she shreds
Miyami with her claws and calls her daughter. In Saugerties, an
injured Vance Astrovik prepares to face his abusive father for the
first time since his battle with Gideon. Arnold Astrovik
confronts Vance about his injuries, which he had been told were
incurred during a motorcycle accident. Sensing that it was a
lie, he hits Vance. When he prepares to hit Vance again, Vance
defends himself and knocks his father through a wall with his
telekinetic powers. Believing that he may have killed his
father, Vance flies off in anguish. Back in Japan, the rest of
the Warriors prepare to fight the Tatsu'o Clan. During the
fight, Night Thrasher discovers that the Tatsu'o Clan are distributing
heroin. Just then, the Cybersamurai arrive and attempt to stop
the Warriors. The Warriors rather easily best the Cybersamurai
and are then confronted by Tatsu'o. He asks them why they are
interfering in his business. Night Thrasher explains the
situation. Tatsu'o then offers the Warriors all the information
they need in exchange for them leaving Japanese affairs to the
Japanese. Night Thrasher accepts the offer. At Saugerties
General Hospital, Norma Astrovik is informed that her husband's
condition is not good. Seemingly, 70% of his bones were ground
into dust. Detective Mason attempts to talk with Norma when
Vance arrives at the Hospital. Detective Mason then arrests
Vance for assault with a deadly weapon, his telekinetic powers.
Back in Japan, Speedball, Firestar, and Silhouette are not happy with
Night Thrasher accepting Tatsu'o's offer. Nova stands by Night
Thrasher's side. In order to make the choice less complicated,
Firestar destroys the heroin shipment. However, the standings
remain the same. Outvoted, Night Thrasher furiously quits and
disbands the New Warriors.
