Title: Hard Choices, Part One: The Heart of the Hunter
Writer: Fabian Nicieza
Penciler: Mark Bagley
Synopsis:
Silhouette visits a church while being watched from above by
Bengal. While inside the church, the Bengal attacks the priest
and Silhouette asking them both, "Did the jungle
breathe?" He chases Silhouette out into the street where
she displays some surprising moves and then vanishes, yet leaves her
clothes lying on the ground. In Springdale, CT, Robbie
Baldwin argues with his father about not hearing from his mother in
three weeks. Robbie points out to his dad that many of the
actions he takes are to divert his parents' attention away from each
and towards him so that they will stop fighting. In Queens,
Richard Rider reveals to his brother, Robert Rider, that he has become
Nova again. Later at the Ambrose Building, Speedball informs the
Warriors about his mother's disappearance and involvement with
Project: Earth. Just then Silhouette appears out of nowhere,
naked and barely conscious. The New Warriors decide to go to
Brazil with Chord, while Night Thrasher stays behind to look over
Silhouette. In Egypt the mysterious woman from previous issues
is seen opening the sarcophagus in order to retrieve the Scepter of
the Ka. Later, the Warriors arrive in Brazil under the guise
that they are students on a special trip. In order to pass as
students the Warriors have to lose their costumes. Vance reveals
his face to the rest of the team. And Speedball powers down and
reveals his true form to the team for the first time. The
Warriors check into a hotel then a mysterious group of people inquire
to the desk clerk as to who they were and then they kill him.
Back at the Ambrose building, Silhouette has woken up and tells Dwayne
about her encounter with Bengal. She reveals to him her power to
"assimilate and recorporate" into and out any shadow or area
of darkness. She also reveals that she has, to a lesser extent,
the same abilities as her brother, Midnight's Fire. Those
abilities include, enhanced strength, speed, and sensory
perception. Silhouette and Night Thrasher set up outside the
church waiting for the Bengal to attack again. He does as the
priest takes his 10 p.m. constitutional. Night Thrasher attacks
the Bengal for attempting to hurt Silhouette. Then he is shot at
by the Punisher who tells Night Thrasher that the Bengal is after the
priest, but he is after Silhouette.
