Title: The Inhuman Condition
Writer: Fabian Nicieza
Penciler: Mark Bagley
Synopsis:
At the launch site a hostile Nova threatens Hanklin, who has just
launched a rocket into space with Namorita, Marvel Boy, Firestar and
Star Thief on board. Hanklin reveals to Nova that the chemicals
will be dumped on the moon in order to get rid of a city established
there and it's residents. Meanwhile, the rocket has just cleared
Earth's orbit. Inside Namorita is suffering from
dehydration. Star Thief says he intends to incinerate the ship
and the chemicals, destroying the Warriors on board with it, in order
to prevent the chemicals from being dumped in space. Marvel Boy,
thinking that they will die, reveals his face and name to
Firestar. Nita wakes up and tells them not to give up so
easily. Just then they are mysteriously teleported away.
Back on Earth, the remaining Warriors assist in putting out fires that
were created due to the rocket launch and their battle with Star Thief
and the Mandroids. In Egypt, the mysterious woman from the last
few issues is seen unlocking a hidden burial tomb which she claims is
her own. Elsewhere, Namorita is awakened and greeted by Triton
who tells her that they are in Attilan, in the blue area of the moon
where the inhumans live. She joins Marvel Boy, Firestar, and
Star Thief, who stand before the Inhuman Council of Elders. It
is at this time that Star Thief explains how he came to possess his
powers. He was struck by an ozone analyzer from an experimental
satellite. He then vowed to never let man's exploration of space
harm another person. It is at this time that Karnak informs the
council that the rocket is headed for Attilan. Star Thief
exclaims that Attilan must be destroyed. He is offended by the
existence of a city on the moon and feels that if it were discovered
it would further the development of the space program. The New
Warriors and the Inhumans engage in combat with Star Thief, who is
hurled down a long tunnel. Back on Earth, Nova, Night Thrasher,
Speedball, and Chord attempt to contact the Avengers and Fantastic
Four for aide with no luck. Back on the moon the New Warriors
and the Inhumans follow the tunnel to see Star Thief held captive by
the Watcher. Star Thief, seeing the vastness of space, comes to
the realization that space exploration is not to blame, but the
exploitation of it is. With that the Inhumans and the Warriors
device a plan to destroy the rocket before it reaches Attilan.
Black Bolt, Star Thief, and Firestar combine their powers to destroy
the rocket and any traces of the chemicals inside. Shortly after
the New Warriors are teleported back to the Ambrose Building by
Lockjaw, while Star Thief has chosen to remain on Attilan among the
Inhumans. The rest of the Warriors return and they are
reunited.
