Title: Genetech Potential
Writer: Fabian Nicieza
Penciler: Mark Bagley
Synopsis:
The New Warriors decide to break into Genetech in order to find out
why they hired The Mad Thinker to gather information on them.
Soon after their arrival they are attacked and subdued by an unseen
force. Speedball, who is an hour late, meets Tai in
Manhattan. She gives him a tracking device so that he can catch
up with the rest of the Warriors. Inside Genetech the rest of
the Warriors are held captive by Walter Rosen and Harmon
Furmintz. Furmintz tells the Warriors that he continually came
close to becoming superhuman in the past, but for whatever reason was
excluded or missed the opportunity. It was for these reasons
that Furmintz has decided to create a race of super-humans. His
first successful experiment was Psionex, a group of young humans that
volunteered to have specific portions of their minds enhanced, giving
them psionic powers. Outside the Genetech facility, Speedball
has arrived and managed to use his kinetic powers to break his way
into an air conditioning vent. Inside, the Warriors are being
introduced to the members of Psionex. Speedball kicks out the
vent in the room the Warriors are being held in and frees them.
The New Warriors fight Psionex and defeat them. Walter Rosen
promises to take more care with future experiments and the Warriors
take their leave. Elsewhere in Manhattan, a strange figure
watches the New Warriors on a television broadcast and comments about
one of the male New Warriors being back (presumably Nova since he
recently regained his powers after a long hiatus) and whether it will
affect her plan.
