History:
Dwayne Taylor was born to privilege. His father had turned the family business, the Taylor Foundation, into a billion dollar investments and charitable enterprises conglomeration. At an early age Dwayne witnessed the murder of his parents, but couldn't recall the face of the killer. He was taken in by Andrew Chord, a friend of the family and Tai. They encouraged Dwayne as he got older to focus his rage over his parents death by fighting crime.
During Dwayne's earlier exploits he met Silhouette and Midnight's Fire who shared the same goals as him. Calling himself Night Thrasher, they worked together to bring down local gangs. During one of their gang busts Silhouette was injured, resulting in the loss of her legs. Midnight's Fire blamed Dwayne for the accident and cut Dwayne's face before running off with Silhouette.
Dwayne did not give up on fighting crime. Now wearing an armor designed by Chord, he sought out other young heroes to join his crusade. Dwayne first attempted to recruit Richard Rider, formerly Nova. Dwayne triggered the dormant powers in Rich by dropping him off of a roof, although at the time, he wasn't sure it would work. His next recruit was Marvel Boy (Vance Astrovik), whom he was alerted to by a hot dog vendor who was paid to watch the comings and going at the Avengers Mansion. With the wounds of his rejection by Captain America still fresh, Night Thrasher offered him membership in his new team. Dwayne's final recruit was Firestar. With the help of Chord, he was able to learn her identity by hacking into the Hellfire Club's computer systems. He threatened to reveal Firestar's identity if she did not meet with him. Soon after she met with Night Thrasher, Nova, and Marvel Boy, a superhuman disturbance compelled them to work together to battle Terrax. The four youths arrived on the scene where Namorita was already battling Terrax. They were soon assisted by another young hero, Speedball. After the six of them defeated Terrax, Night Thrasher posed that they remain together. One by one, they all agreed to join his team.
Soon after Night Thrasher assembled his team, Midnight's Fire sought his revenge against him. Night Thrasher defeated Fire and learned that Silhouette was still alive, although she had permanently lost the use of her legs. Silhouette and Dwayne rekindled their romance. After Silhouette escaped an attack by the Bengal, Dwayne learned of her abilities. Silhouette soon joined the team.
Dwayne later discovered that the Taylor Foundation was involved in illegal business matters. When he confronted Chord with this information, Chord attempted to kill himself in fear of what would be done to him by a woman he did not name. While seeking the truth, Dwayne quit the New Warriors and joined The Folding Circle, which led him to a temple in Cambodia. Upon arriving at the temple, he noticed similarities between his armor and those worn by the temple guards.
